Ridley Scott discusses changes…
Director Ridley Scott recently spoke with MTV.com about the film formerly known as Nottingham, and had many updates to share.
First of all, Russell Crowe will not be playing both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham. He will just be portraying Robin Hood. Ridley stated…
"The dual roles prospect was an idea so far back, way back when at the time I had this proposed to me, and I read it and thought, 'I don't really know what it does for it, but it's alright'. It is better to simply have the evolution of a character called Robin Hood, who will come out of a point in the Crusades which is the end."
In Scott's version of the film, the Sheriff of Nottingham will have a smaller role, as Robin Hood will begin his journey as a bowman in Richard the Lionheart's army, and the main villain will be the French.
Scott also dismissed reports of Crowe being out of shape for the part, stating that he has been training in archery for four months, and come time for filming, he will be in shape for the role.

Main villian be the FRENCH?
I've read at least 4 versions of the Robin Hood Myths, the French are a non-issue!

I thought the whole point of the movie was that it was a switch up on the whole mythology putting Nottingham in the hero role and Robin Hood as the bad guy? I'm a big Ridley Scott fan but I don't see the point of another Robin Hood movie if it's just the usual.

I think that idea ain't too great. Wasn't the point to have Robin be the villain? Why are the French supposed to be involved?

Crowe should play Robin Hood, because "unlike other Robin Hood's, he can speak with an english accent...". Never mind being the main villian, boo-urns if the French are involved, period.

That's just fantastic...a main villain that's constantly running away.
"ee haz a bow and arrows...run away!"
